executive leadership coaching

You may have noticed that the words 'building leadership skills that matter' appear frequently in connection with LDN International. It is a phrase that reflects very much what we are all about and the focus of our executive leadership coaching.

Executive Coaching & Leadership Coaching

The task of being an executive today is complex and challenging. We live in times of unprecedented change and ambiguity in which leaders need to manage their organisations through what is often uncharted territory. At the same time, they must still deliver the right results. Under this kind of pressure, time for self to reflect and adjust to new demands can be non-existent.

Yet, without a pause to consider how one might address issues a little differently, leaders find it very difficult to bring a new perspective to their job and adjust their approach. This can be frustrating for people who have already been successful in their careers and are intent on mastering new challenges.

If you find yourself in this situation, an executive coach can be your champion behind the scenes. Expect that person to bring considerable expertise in diagnosing the gap between where you are now as a leader and where you want to be, and resourceful with ideas on how you can get there in an efficient manner.

At LDN, we believe that coaching leaders is both a privilege and a responsibility. It's a privilege because these are people who have risen to positions of real responsibility, and helping them to be more effective will have a flow-on benefit to those who depend on them. It's a responsibility because a coach must be the enabler of their professional growth and development.

With this in mind, we take a whole person approach. First, there's the outer person whose leadership behaviours are apparent to all. Then there's the inner person, whose aspirations and core values drive much of what they do at work.

As coaches, we know that when the outer and inner beings are aligned, leadership is at its most powerful and inspiring.

Here is what our experience has taught us about coaching leaders:

  • They have a very practical orientation to learning
  • They are motivated to learn as long as it leads to increased capability in an area that is important to them
  • They often already know 'why' and want to focus more on 'how'
  • Gaining mastery over significant real-world challenges can be very satisfying for them
  • They are generally motivated beyond their own success; they want to add value to other people in their lives.
